UNI Moves to 3-0 With 72-47 Triumph Over North Dakota

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 72-47 win over visiting North Dakota on Saturday in the McLeod Center.
UNI senior forward Jake Koch led all scorers with 16 points, including 10-of-10 at the foul line. Koch added eight rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal in the win.
UNI never trailed in the game and it was tied only once at 8-8. The Panthers opened up a 36-19 lead with 3:24 left before half. But UND rallied with a 13-2 run to close the first half and open up the second half to make it a 38-32 game with 18:51 remaining.
UND would get no closer and the Panthers would eventually open up a 25-point lead over the visitors.
UNI will now head to the Bahamas to take part in the Battle 4 Atlantis on Nov. 22-24. UNI will take on Louisville in the quarterfinals on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. (CT).
NOTES: Chip Rank scored 13 points off the bench vs. UND ... UNI drained its first 16 free throws in the contest and finished the game 17-of-20 at the line ... UNI outrebounded UND, 41-28 ... UNI is now 16-0 in the November games in the McLeod Center.
