Indoor 400m Hurdles Highlight 2013 Dickinson Relays

For the first time in Dickinson Relays history, the Indoor 400m hurdles will be contested. This is believed to be the first time in American history the 400m hurdles is being contested as an indoor high school event. In 2012 this new event began gaining popularity in Europe. Last year the University of New Mexico became the site of the first collegiate indoor 400m hurdles contested in the US.
"We are thrilled to add this historic event to our meet," said UNI head men's and women's track coach, Dan Steele. "Iowa is one of only five states in the US that contests the prep 400m hurdles outdoors, so adding it to the indoor campaign makes a lot of sense. We are excited for UNI to host this event and possibly see an American high school record set in the UNI-Dome."
Competition at the Dickinson Relays promises to be competitive again this year. Last year's field featured nine State Champions, 16 State Finalists and 12 Drake Relays Finalists.
