
Panthers Roll to 69-33 Win Over Evansville For 13th Straight Victory

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team picked up its 13th straight victory with a 69-33 win at Evansville Saturday afternoon at Roberts Stadium. The 33 points are the fewest allowed by UNI this season, and the victory gives UNI (21-5, 14-1 MVC) its most wins since joining the Division I ranks in 1982.

Heck cut the UNI lead to 10 with a basket on the block, but Oney hit her second three of the game and Armstrong scored on a layup to stretch the Panther advantage to 23-8 with 8:10 on the clock.
UNI went in front 30-10 when Armstrong hit a free throw at 5:49. Each team scored another basket to send the teams into the break with UNI leading, 32-12.
UE scored the first four points of the second half to trim the UNI lead to 32-16, but the Panthers responded with an 8-0 run to build a 40-16 advantage.
Heck converted a three-point play, but Oney knocked down a baseline three, and Jess McDowell scored a layup and free throw on a Panther fast break to put UNI in front 54-24 with 10:08 remaining.
The Panthers would lead by at least 26 and as many as 36 the rest of the way.
UNI shot 26-of-54 (48.1 percent) from the floor, including 6-of-18 (33.3 percent) from three-point range. The Panthers were 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) from the free-throw line.
