
Vandenabeele, Nowasell Pace UNI at Iowa Invitational

IOWA CITY, IOWA -- The University of Northern Iowa cross country teams competed in the Iowa Invitational at Ashton Cross Country Course on Saturday morning. Sophomore Thibault Vandenabeele led the men's team, taking sixth place with an 8k time of 26:19.70.
Junior Danielle Nowasell was UNI's top finisher in the women's 3k race, finishing in 11:01.80 for 17th place.
Iowa won the men's team title with 19 points. UNI took second place with 55 points, edging out Wichita State.
Following up Vandenabeele, sophomore Brett Egan placed 10th, clocking in at 26:31.00. Egan was followed by junior Alex Mark in 12th place (26:58.80) and junior Aaron Vosberg in 13th place (27:08.10). Junior Brady Fritz rounded out the Panthers' scoring with a 15th-place finish.
UNI took third in the women's team race behind Iowa and Wichita State. After Nowasell, sophomore Lindsey Wilkins finished in 18th place with a time of 11:04.60. Scotti Schon took 22nd place, Jill Lageschulte took 23rd place and Carly Olsen took 24th place to complete UNI's scoring.
UNI will run next at the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Fri., Sept. 24, in Davenport, Iowa.
