Panthers Drop Series Finale at Southern Illinois, 4-1

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell 4-1 in the series finale at Southern Illinois in Missouri Valley Conference action Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers (26-23, 11-11) were held to just two hits in the loss, one a solo home run from Mackenzie Daigh.
SIU (34-17, 18-4) tallied eight hits in the game, notching single runs in the first, third and fifth innings.
Daigh homered in the top of the sixth to cut the Saluki's lead to 3-1. SIU answered in the bottom half of the inning to put their lead back at three runs. The Panthers were retired in order in the seventh to end the game.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Missouri State.
