Home Runs Push No. 3 Missouri Past UNI, 3-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell 3-0 at No. 3 Missouri Wednesday afternoon at University Field. Jen Larsen and Hannah Borschel notched the Panthers' only hits in the contest. Melissa Tillett was charged with the loss after surrendering two runs in the first inning. Tillett and Jaye Hutcheson combined to allow just six hits for the Tigers. Two of those hits were home runs, driving in all three Tiger runs. The Panthers (9-7) managed just three baserunners in the loss, collecting two singles and a walk. Nicole Hudson hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first to put Missouri (13-2) on the board first, 2-0. Jaye Hutcheson entered in relief and held the Tigers scoreless until Marla Schweisberger hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. Larsen singled to lead off the top of the seventh, but Missouri used a double play and a strikeout to end the game. The Panthers return to action on Friday when they play Utah and Oklahoma in the first day of the Oklahoma Spring Festival.
