UNI Runs Home-Court Win Streak to 17 Straight With 65-52 Triumph Over North Dakota

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa men's basketball team ran its home-court winning streak to 17 in a row with a 65-52 victory over North Dakota on Saturday night in the McLeod Center.
The Panthers' 17-game win streak ties the school record set from 1962-65. It also ranks as the sixth-best current home-court win streak in the nation.
UNI improved to 2-2 on the year, while North Dakota fell to 2-3 overall.
Sophomore forward Jake Koch poured in a game-high 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field. Koch also buried three 3-pointers in the contest. Koch scored 19 of his 20 points in the second half.
Koch's second-half spurt allowed UNI to turn a one-point lead (43-42) into a 56-42 advantage in a 13-0 run. Koch scored the first nine points of the run, which included a pair of triples for the Ashwaubenon, Wis., native.
Koch's final bucket of the game gave UNI its largest lead at 64-44 with 2:56 left in the contest.
UNI will put its 17-game home-court winning streak on the line Wednesday as the Panthers host the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m. in the McLeod Center.
NOTES: Sophomore guard Lucas O'Rear was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and scored nine points ... UNI turned the ball over only nine times in the game, while forcing UND into 12 miscues ... UNI made 10-of-16 free throws, while UND made all four of its attempts.
