Coach Farley Quotes
On his team's overall performance:
“Overall, the purpose of this game was to get the win and to get to our bye week healthy. Later in the year we should be able to look back at this game and see how it helped our football team.”
On South Dakota quarterback Noah Shepard:
“I think Shepard is a very good quarterback, because he can run the ball well and he still has the ability to look downfield to throw.”
On South Dakota's play:
“They fought until the bitter end and never gave up. I give a lot of credit to them and their quarterback has a bright future.”
On giving up 290 yards passing:
“We knew after the BYU game that parts of defense got exposed, and until we clean that up every team is going to try and exploit that. South Dakota ran a lot of the same things BYU did, and we knew they were going to do that coming in.”
On being statistical outgained by South Dakota:
“I'm only worried about one statistic, getting the win. If you start reading into statistics it usually is because you are doing something wrong. The key is we won. If we make some of the defensive plays we should have by sacking their quarterback instead of letting him scramble for 15 yards then there is not much difference in the statistics. Right now, I feel we have a good handle on our football team and we will be able to get some things cleaned up next week during the bye.”
Senior Corey Lewis
On having a 100-plus-yard rushing game:
“It felt really good. Offensive line made great improvements from last week. I give them a lot of credit for my runs, that and we had some great downfield blocking.”
On the team performance:
“We weren't really very happy after last week. We worked hard in practice and we still have a lot of improving before conference starts, but we have made significant improvement from last week and we'll continue to improve as the season goes on.”
Senior Justin Kirk
On giving up 415 yards of offense:
“Nobody is happy about that. It shows where we need to get better. Even though they only scored 13 points we need to hold teams to less yards.”
On why UNI can force turnovers:
“We're mentally focused and getting to the ball. We have the speed and desire to get the ball.”
