The Panthers won two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point over the Cougars which proved to be the deciding factor of the match. Senior Meghana Paritala and freshman Diana Mendez topped Yosefina Rustandar and Peggy Moore 8-5 in No. 2 doubles, and senior Carolina Hannes and freshman Laia Gonzalez-Garrido rolled past the Cougars duo of Ameena Payne and Nia Randall 8-0. The UNI duo of sophomore Sampada Kanade and junior Taynara Moraes fell in No. 1 doubles play 8-4 against Golda Rubina and Dian Mayasari.
In singles play the teams split with each winning three matches. Paritala fell in No. 1 singles 7-5, 6-2 against Dian Mayasari. Kanade lost a tough match to Rubina 6-3, (3-6), and 11-9 in a super-tiebreak. Gonzalez-Garrido also lost in a super-tiebreak against Rustandar (6-7), 6-3, 10-6. Moraes cruised past
"We really got pushed at the top of our line-up tonight and it was just good to come out with a victory," head coach Sachin Kirtane said.
The Panthers will take on undefeated
