UNI head coach Ben Jacobson
On falling to Drake twice in close games:
There's probably two to four plays at their place and two to four plays at our place that were the difference in those games. Our games came down to two to four plays both places, and (Drake) won them both. That's a great basketball team."
On the key plays of the second half:
"I thought the two plays where it was tied and we turned it over were key."
On Drake's ability to win close games:
"We didn't make a couple of plays we needed to. They made the plays, and that's why they're 23-2. They've done it to everyone, and that's the sign of a great basketball team."
UNI senior guard Jared Josten
On team's two close losses to Drake this season:
"We obviously came out and thought we could win, but it didn't turn out the way we'd like. It definitely hurts. The mistakes we've made in these games, everybody on our team feels like we can fix them."
Drake head coach Keno Davis
On back-to-back road games against Southern Illinois and UNI:
"I knew we were going to have our hands full during this stretch. I felt coming off the SIU game that we gave a great effort but we couldn't get some shots to fall down there. Tonight, those shots seemed to be going down, and I'm really proud of our team."
On clinching Drake's first MVC championship since 1971:
"It's been an amazing year. To have the conference champion of the Missouri Valley Conference represented by Drake, that's an upside-down year. I think being picked ninth (in the preseason poll) makes it all the sweeter."
On team's confidence:
"I didn't hear many of our guys talking about conference championships going into the year. They just have a quiet confidence about them."
