MINNEAPOLIS, Minn - The University of Northern Iowa softball team fell 1-0 to Iowa in its final game at the Metrodome Softball Classic, snapping a six-game win streak for the Panthers.

Neither team could find a rhythm offensively and struggled to push runners across the plate. UNI left five runners stranded, while Iowa marooned nine.

Iowa's pitching proved to be the difference maker in the game; Amanda Zust allowed just three hits and registered eight strikeouts, while giving up just two walks.

It looked as if UNI would answer the Hawkeyes' score in the bottom of the sixth. With three runners on base Crystal Keiper (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Jefferson) hit a ground ball to second and Iowa managed to silence the Panthers threat.

UNI's Jen Larsen (Moline, Ill./Moline) was tagged for five hits in the loss, but gave up just one run to the Hawkeyes.

UNI will have two weeks off before traveling to Martin, Tennessee to take part in the Tennessee Martin Classic March 1-2.

NOTES:

UNI's loss today snapped a six-game win streak for the Panthers; both of UNI's losses this season have been by only one run.
