Panthers Fall to Nebraska-Omaha 157-123

OMAHA, Neb. – The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming team fell 157-123 against Nebraska-Omaha Saturday afternoon. Chelsea Hartman set a new school record for the Panthers in the 500-yard freestyle. Hartman broke the previous record of 5:06.72 set in 2003, with a time of 5:06.56.
The Panthers 400-yard medley relay team of Abby Giard, Maggie Rickert and Ashley Hunter took first place, clocking in at 4:08.31.
Hartman opened the day in the 1000-yard freestyle, taking the top spot in 10:36.23.
Abby Moses and Abby Girard took the top two spots in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing in 1:01.47 and 1:01:49. Giard and Moses teamed up again, taking the top spots again in the 200-yard backstroke, with Giard taking first in 2:11.63 and Moses in second with 2:13.88.
Maggie Rickert finished in first place in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 1:00.63.
The Panthers return to action Nov. 15th when they travel to Northern Colorado for a dual meet with Bears at 9 a.m. The Panthers will then take on South Dakota State in another dual meet at 2 p.m.
