UNI coach Ben Jacobson
On improvement since loss to Creighton:
"We played with better energy today. The guys that came off the bench did a nice job and we were better in transition."
On limiting Missouri State to 31 percent shooting:
"If they settle in and get comfortable, they can be very dangerous on offense. We didn't want Missouri State to get in a rhythm on offense, so we changed up our defense, pressed a little and played a little zone. Then, when we're rebounding the basketball well, it allows us to get a good run going the other way."
On team's season-high 58 percent shooting:
"I just liked how the guys looked. They were confident when they were shooting it, were aware of where their teammates were and were always willing to make the extra pass."
UNI guard Jared Josten
On his performance at point guard:
"I thought I was finding more open guys than I have been. I thought I was seeing the floor pretty well. That was probably my best game of the year."
On importance of snapping four-game losing streak:
"We lost two at home and we always talk about protecting our home court, so this was a big game for us."
UNI guard Travis Brown
On five UNI players finishing in double-figure scoring:
"All of us were involved in the offense and we were hitting open shots, so our offense was good today."
On turning losing streak around:
"The last few days in practice we were able to watch the film and coach always does a good job of finding a couple of key plays. We weren't hitting shots, but it was the little things and we're going to keep working on improving those things."
UNI center Eric Coleman
On difference between team's play in consecutive home losses versus Sunday's win:
"We made more plays than we have been able to the past few games. We got to the shooters a lot better and made them take tough shots."
On importance of the win:
"It was a big win for us. Having three games in a row at home, and losing the first two, we needed to win this one for sure."
Missouri State coach Barry Hinson
On Eric Coleman's impact on the game:
"We made him feel extremely comfortable today. It's certainly no excuse, but If there's ever a game we're going to miss Drew Richards, it's this game. We missed his size and we had no one to match up with Eglseder and Coleman."
On trailing by four points at the half:
"We didn't shoot the ball well and we weren't guarding well, but we were still in the game. I was feeling pretty good."
On coming to the McLeod Center to face UNI:
"They had a lot going for them. They had lost four in a row and two in a row to us (in Cedar Falls), so that was plenty of fuel for their fire, and that's what we told our guys."
