#22 Kansas State Sweeps UNI

Manhattan, Kan. - Rita Liliom had a match high 16 kills to lead the 22nd-ranked Kansas State volleyball team to a 3-0 win over the University of Northern Iowa tonight at the Varney's Invitational. Game scores were 30-15, 30-25 and 30-23.
Junior middle blocker Ashten Stelken (Manchester, Iowa) led UNI with 10 kills and five blocks, while posting a .600 hitting percentage (10-1-15). Shannon Aschoff (Ankeny, Iowa) and Danielle Brazda each recorded eight kills for the Panthers, while Melissa Schmitz (Elk Run Heights, Iowa) had a team-high 11 digs.
Kansas State hit .391 (58-15-110) for the match, while UNI hit .208 (38-16-106). The Wildcats also recorded more digs (48-33) and blocks (10-8) than the Panthers.
With the win, Kansas State improves to 7-2, while UNI falls to 3-5 after suffering its fourth straight loss. That is the longest losing streak for the Panthers since 1988, when UNI also dropped four consecutive matches.
The Panthers continue play in the Varney's Invitational tomorrow, facing Arkansas at 10 am and Fresno State at 6 pm.
