Omaha, Neb. - The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team struggled in their championship matches today at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships. The Panthers lost all four finals matches today, and were unable to come home with any MVC champions. Due to inclement weather in the Omaha area play was moved to indoors. All third and fourth place matches were cancelled today.
Senior Carolina Hannes (Sao Paulo, Brazil) lost her #5 singles final today to Marie Caujolle of Indiana State 0-6, 6-3, 6-3. Hannes finished the fall season with a 6-4 record.
Tanja Hrovatic of Illinois State defeated UNI freshman Diana Mendez (Bogota, Colombia) in the #6 singles flight 6-2, 6-2. Mendez posted a team best 6-3 record in fall tournaments.
The Panthers duo of sophomore Sampada Kanade (Mumbai, India) and junior Taynara Moraes (Santos, Brazil) lost their #1 finals double match against Indiana State's Jennifer Migan and Joanne Schickerling, 8-3. Migan and Schickerling won their third MVC doubles crown, and became only the second duo to ever accomplish that feat.

This weekend concluded the fall tournament season for the Panthers. UNI will be back in action January 25-27 at the Hawkeye Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
