FARGO, N.D. - The University of Northern Iowa stayed undefeated in Western Wrestling Conference dual action with a 31-9 victory over the North Dakota State Bison on Friday night in the Bison Sports Arena. UNI won seven of the 10 contested matches.
UNI (6-9-1 overall, 3-0 WWC) benefited from a pair of pins from Kyle Anson (Iowa City, Iowa) and Moza Fay (Anamosa, Iowa). Anson scored his fall at 133 pounds in 4:26, while Fay tallied his at the 3:46 mark of his 157-pound dual.
UNI's Nick Baima (Glen Ellyn, Ill.) scored a technical fall at 165 pounds with a 23-7 triumph. The Panthers' Alex Dolly (Mishawaka, Ind.) and Tyler Rhodes (Mountain View, Wyo.) tallied major decisions to give the squad bonus points in the dual.
"We wrestled really aggressively tonight," UNI head coach Brad Penrith said. "Our core guys went out and scored some bonus points with pins, tech falls and major decisions. It was another good road win in our conference. We are using this last road trip to ready ourselves for the West Regional on March 3."
The Panthers will close the regular season with a dual at South Dakota State on Saturday at 3 p.m.
