Panthers Fall To Drake, 74-61

DES MOINES, Iowa - Drake's Klayton Korver scored a career-high 23 points, hitting six three-pointers in the process, to lead the Bulldogs to a 74-61 win over the University of Northern Iowa Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,248 at the Knapp Center.

Trailing by one (35-34) at intermission, Drake came out on fire early in the second half. The Bulldogs went on an 8-2 run over the first three minutes, culminated by a Korver three-pointer that gave them a 42-37 lead. The Panthers pulled within two, 44-42, after a Grant Stout (New Sharon, Iowa) layup, but Drake then went on a 9-2 run to go up 53-44 with just over 10 minutes remaining.
Down the stretch, Drake kept hitting big shots to keep UNI at bay. Twice, the Panthers pulled to within six, but both times the Bulldogs responded with three-pointers to push the lead back to nine. Drake held a double-digit lead the last four minutes of the game.
UNI held a slight lead throughout most of the first half, going up by as many as five (14-9) early in the game. Coleman had two layups late to give the Panthers a 35-31 lead, but Korver got open in the corner to nail a trey at the buzzer to pull Drake within 35-34 at intermission. Brown and Coleman each had eight points in the first half for the Panthers.
For the game, Drake connected on 46 percent of its field goals, including 10-of-23 (44 percent) from three-point range. The Bulldogs hit on 6-of-11 treys in the second half. UNI made 41 percent of its shots and were 7-of-22 from behind the arc.
Drake improved to 12-10 overall, 3-8 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while UNI fell to 15-6, 6-4 in theValley. The Panthers return home to the
