Two Former Panther Football Players Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts

A pair of former University of Northern Iowa wide receivers have signed free agent contracts with two teams in the National Football League. UNI currently boasts 12 former players in the NFL.
Wide receiver Justin Surrency signed a free agent deal with the defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. Surrency led UNI in receiving in 2005 with 47 receptions for 663 yards and seven touchdowns. Throughout his UNI career, Surrency tallied 107 receptions, 1,493 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Eddie Berlin inked a free agent contract with the New England Patriots. Berlin finished his UNI career ranked No. 1 on the all-time Gateway and UNI pass reception list with 249 catches from 1997-2000. Berlin also ranks second on the Panthers' all-time receiving yardage list with 3,725 yards. Berlin's 34 collegiate touchdowns also ranks second on the Panthers' all-time chart. Berlin played for the Chicago Bears in 2005 and had been with the Tennessee Titans from 2001-2004.
