Panthers Lose to Kansas 99-49 in Two-Day Dual

The University of Northern Iowa women's swim team lost to the University of Kansas 99-49 in a two-day dual at Lawrence, Kan. The Panthers won none of 22 events and finished in the top three in six events.
To recap on day one, the only second-place Panther finish of the night was the 200-yard medley relay consisting of freshman Abby Girard (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), freshman Amanda Firman (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls), senior Rachael Robnett (Coeur d'Alene, Idaho/Lake City), and freshman Maggie Rickert (Hudson, Iowa/Hudson). Their finishing time was 1:55.22.
Robnett earned three points for the Panthers with her third-place finish in the 100-yard breast, 1:13.25. Firman also claimed third with her 55.82 finish in the 100-yard free.
The 200-yard free relay kicked off the second day where UNI took third. The 200 free relay team included Firman, Rickert, sophomore Ashley Hunter (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley North), and senior Erin Danielson (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston). Their finishing time was 1:42.01.
Other top three finishes in day two went to Firman and Rickert. Firman raced in to second in the 50-yard free with a time of 25.46 and Rickert took third in the 50-yard fly, 27.80.
The Panthers will be back in action Saturday (Nov. 11) at 9 a.m. in Brookings, S.D. where they face off with the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State University.
