Panthers Post 74-61 Win at Evansville

Evansville, Ind. - Brooks McKowen (Fairbank, Iowa) had 18 points to lead the University of Northern Iowa to a 74-61 win over Evansville Wednesday night at Roberts Stadium.
Three other Panthers scored in double figures on the night. Grant Stout (New Sharon, Iowa) had 16 points, John Little (Peoria, Ill.) had a career-high 15, and Ben Jacobson (Sioux City, Iowa) had 12. Jacobson added a game-high seven assists.
UNI held a 32-30 lead at halftime, and took control early in the second half. The Panthers used a 23-4 run over a nine minute span - holding the Purple Aces scoreless for more than six minutes - to open a 62-40 lead with less than seven minutes remaining.
The Panthers shot 51 percent from the field for the game, while holding Evansville to 43 percent shooting. UNI also won the battle of rebounding, 33-24, with Stout and Eric Coleman (Maplewood, Minn.) tying for game high honors with seven each.
UNI improves to 18-3 overall, 8-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Evansville falls to 5-13, 1-9 in conference play. The Panthers next game is this Saturday (Jan. 28) when they face Drake at the Knapp Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Tipoff is set for 3:05 p.m.
