Panthers Lose Close Game to Tigers

Newark, Del. - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team lost 1-0 to the Towson Tigers this afternoon at the Blue Hen Adidas Classic. UNI matched the Tigers in corner kicks (3) and fouls (8). The Panthers were outshot 15-12 in the close game, but UNI tallied two more shots on goal (6-5).
Jamie Swears scored the lone goal of the game in the 23rd minute, knocking in an assist by Marissa Gross. Seven Panthers recorded a shot in the game. They were led by senior Shanon Dechant, who had three.
Sophomore goalie Krista Thorley had four saves.
UNI (1-7-0) travels to Tulsa and Oral Roberts next weekend before returning home Thursday, Sept. 29 for Pack the Park night against Iowa. Towson improves to 4-1-1.
