UNI Signs 19 Football Players to National Letters

CEDAR FALLS - University of Northern Iowa head football coach Mark Farley announced today the signing of 19 players to NCAA National Letters of Intent, including 12 players from the state of Iowa.
"We are very pleased with our recruiting class of incoming freshmen," said Farley. "It is exciting to be able to continue building our foundation with a majority of student-athletes from our Iowa high schools."
The list of players who signed Letters of Intent today follows, alphabetized by state and city within the state.
POCATELLO, ID - Dexter Hill, 6-1, 190, Jr. QB ((Scottsdale CC)...3rd team NJCAA All-American, Region 1 Offensive Player of Year...Led team to 9-1 record and no. 5 national ranking...Completed 175-of-302 passes for 2,319 yards with 19 TDs.
ALGONA, IA - Jordan Limbaugh, 6-3, 275 OL (Algona HS)...Elite All-State 1st team 2004, two-time all-state and all-district...Current record holder at Algona for most knockdown blocks in a season and career...Three-year wrestling letterman and sixth-place finisher at state in 2004...Three letters in track, throwing the shot put and discus...Majoring in Business...Son of Jack and Deb.
CEDAR FALLS, IA - Sam Peterson, 6-5, 240 DE/TE (Cedar Falls HS)...Iowa Elite All-State, 1st team all-state, 1st team all-conference and all-Metro...Led high school to undefeated regular season...Eight catches for 93 yards and eight TDs, 65 tackles, six sacks, six tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, one interception, six quarterback pressures...3.89 GPA...Son of Scott and Sandy.
CLINTON, IA - Nathan Herrig, 6-4, 245 DL (Clinton HS)...Two-year letterman, team captain, team defensive MVP...As a junior, honorable mention All-MAC despite playing in just four games due to injury...As a senior, led the team with 70 tackles...All-MAC on both offense and defense...Earned 1st team All-Clinton Herald on both offense and defense, 2nd team all-Metro Quad City Times on defense...Lettered two years in basketball, track and soccer and once in basketball...Senior Class President...Majoring in Education.
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA - Charles "Chuck" Kinney, 6-3, 255 DL (Lincoln HS)...1st team all-state Class 4A...Multi-sport athlete in football, basketball and track...Two-time all-state in football and placed in state shot put...Totaled 89 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, nine sacks senior season...Son of Chuck and Rose...Majoring in Criminology.
DAVENPORT, IA - Austin Howard, 6-6, 260 TE (Central HS)...2nd team all-state, 1st team Quad-City Times, all-Metro, 1st team all-MAC Conference, team captain...Led Blue Devils with 15 catches for 243 yards and four TDs...Son of Elston and Jamie...Majoring in Business and Communications.
ELDORA, IA - Codie Fetters, 6-4, 250 OL (Eldora-New Providence HS)...Two-time 1st team Class 1A all-state offensive and defensive lineman...Most valuable defensive player in District 7 in 2004...Three-time 1st team all-conference...Team won the Class 1A state title in 2003...Ranks no. 1 in his class with a 3.97 GPA...Majoring in Education...Son of Bob and Dixie.
IOWA CITY, IA - Eric Bockelman, 6-5, 255 OL/DL (West HS)...All-Iowa City Area DL, 2nd team all-conference offensive lineman...Son of Tarryl and Ann...Majoring in Biology.
NEWTON, IA - Derrick Law, 6-1, 215 DB/RB (Newton HS)...Finished senior campaign with 1,126 yards and 15 TDs rushing on 180 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per carry...Son of Eric, Sr., and Stephanie...Majoring in Business and Communications.
REMSEN, IA - Austin Steichen, 6-3, 295 OL (Saint Mary's HS)...1st team all-state 2004, co-captain of the state champion 8-man team...Three-time 1st team all-district, three-time 1st team all-Plymouth County...1st team all-Plymouth County in basketball in 2004...Sixth-place finisher in the shot put and state qualifier in the discus...1st team all-district baseball 2004...Majoring in Business...Son of Dan and Sue.
SIOUX CITY, IA - Patrick Grace, 6-2, 205 QB (Heelan HS)...Class 4A 1st team all-state, Elite Team all-state, all-conference...Threw for 1,800 yards and 21 TDs...Rushed for 700 yards and 10 TDs...Led Heelan to second round of state playoffs in 2004.
URBANDALE, IA - Joel Gilson, 6-5, 235 TE (Urbandale HS)...1st team all-CIML DE as a junior, 1st team TE as a senior...Recorded 103 tackles and 14 sacks, 26 catches for 350 yards and three TDs...Will be a four-year letterman in track and holds the school record in the discus at 171-7...Finished 4th at the state track meet as a junior in the discus...Also runs on the 4 x 100 team that qualified for the Drake Relays and the state track meet...Majoring in Education.
WATERLOO, IA - Nathan Rausa, 5-8, 175 PK (Columbus HS)...Elite 1st team all-state, 1st team all-state Class 2A...Two-time all-Metro, 1st team academic all-district...Member of the state championship team...Son of Dave and Betty.
BURNSVILLE, MN - James Ruffin, 6-4, 235 FB/LB (Burnsville HS)...Two-year starter in basketball and three-year starter in football...Three-time 1st team all-conference...Majoring in Applied Physics...Son of James and Donna.
KANSAS CITY, MO - Brad Cole, 6-2, 190 RB (North HS)...1st team all-state in football...As a senior, rushed for 2,011 yards and 24 TDs...Single-game high of 382 yards and 38 points scored vs. Ft. Osage...All time North rushing leader with 3,189 yards...Same school as former UNI receiver Marlus Mays...Son of Vicki Cole...Majoring in Criminology.
GARFIELD, NJ - Dave Schratz, 6-0, 220, Jr. LB (Iowa Central CC)...1st team All-Region XI 2004...Led team with 121 tackles...Three-time all-conference as a prep, two-time all-county...Bengen County Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2002...Majoring in Physical Education and Coaching...Son of David and Charleszetta.
CONCORDVILLE, PA - Osayi Ehigiamusoe, 6-1, 221 LB (Glen Mills HS)...Team co-captain and defensive MVP in 2004...2nd team all-county and member of the 2004 National Power Lifting champions...Also played Lacrosse in 2004...Majoring in Criminology.
SIOUX FALLS, SD - Josh Mahoney, 6-1, 220 FB/LB (O'Gorman HS)...2004 South Dakota Gatorade Player of the Year...Two-time 1st team all-state...1,031 yards and 19 TDs in 2004 to lead squad to first Class AA state title since 1993...Career 2,102 rushing yards, 36 TDs and 276 tackles...First in class with a 4.0 GPA.
MANSFIELD, TX - B.J. Medley, 6-2, 185 DB (Summit HS (Arlington, TX))...Coached by Tim Beck as a senior after moving from Franklinville, NJ, where he was a two-year letter winner at Dlsea Regional High School...Two-year letterman in track at Dlsea before leaving for Texas during the spring of his junior year...Led team in interceptions as a safety but has size, speed and quickness to be a corner at the collegiate level...Helped Summit reach the Class 5A playoffs...Invited to Class 5A All-Star Game...Majoring in Business.
In addition, the Panthers have four Division 1-A transfers already enrolled in school.
