Springfield, Mo. - Four University of Northern Iowa players recorded double-figures in kills, but it was not enough as Missouri State posted a 3-1 win in college volleyball action Saturday night. Game scores were 30-22, 21-30, 30-19 and 30-27.
Sophomore middle blocker Danielle Brazda (Omaha, Neb.) led the way with 13 kills, while senior middle Stephanie Germann (LeMars, Iowa) had 12 kills and seven blocks. Outside hitters Laura Rowen (Hansell, Iowa) and Amy Sampson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) each had 11 kills for UNI.
Junior libero Stephanie May (Dubuque, Iowa) had 26 digs for UNI, and was one of four Panthers to reach double-digits. Rowen had 14 digs, to post her 12th double-double (kills-digs) on the season. Missouri State's Katie Werges led all players with 22 kills.
The start of the match was delayed 30 minutes due to a tornado warning in the Springfield area.
With the win, Missouri State improves to 20-8 overall, 13-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference. UNI falls to 17-10 overall, 11-5 in the Valley. The Panthers next match is Tuesday (Nov. 15) when they travel to face Western Illinois in Macomb, Ill.
