
Evansville Defeats UNI, 4-1

Cedar Falls, Iowa - The University of Northern Iowa women's soccer team suffered a 4-1 loss to Evansville Friday night at the Cedar Valley Soccer Complex.
UNI's Shanon Dechant gave UNI a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute. As Evansville goalkeeper Rayna Post came off her line to deflect the ball, Dechant gathered the loose ball and scored into an open goal. It was Dechant's third goal of the season.
Evansville evened the score two minutes later, as Kayla Lambert scored from 10 yards out. The game remained even at 1-1 into the second half, when Lambert scored again in the 59th minute, taking a cross from Danielle Brand and putting the ball in from the center of the box. Lambert completed her hat-trick in the 65th minute.
UNI's Heidi O'Mara, making her first start of the season, recorded 12 saves for the Panthers. Post had four saves for Evansville.
With the loss, UNI falls to 1-15 on the season, 0-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference, while Evansville improves to 9-6 overall, 1-4 in the MVC. The Panthers close out their regular season on Sunday (Oct. 23) at 1:00 p.m., hosting Illinois State on Senior Day.
