Rachel Jansen is the most-decorated female track and field athlete in UNI’s history, claiming three outdoor All-America honors and one indoor All-America citation in the shot put.

She claimed fourth place in the shot put at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Championships and took fourth place again at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships for her highest finishes in the event. Jansen was a seven-time NCAA qualifier for the Panthers.

On the conference level, Jansen owns seven individual Missouri Valley Conference championships. Jansen became the Valley’s first three-time winner of the league’s indoor shot put title with conference crowns in 2006, 2007 and 2008. Jansen was named the Most Valuable Athlete and the Most Outstanding Field Athlete at the 2007 MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship meet. She helped lead the Panther women to the 2008 indoor and outdoor MVC team titles.
Jansen still owns the UNI school records in the indoor shot put, outdoor shot put, weight throw, hammer throw and discus. She was named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete team in 2008.

Jansen is a native of Orange City, Iowa, and a graduate of MOC-Floyd Valley High School. Jansen currently resides in Richmond, Mo.
