Debra Drenth

UNI women's basketball star Debra Drenth at one point held school records for career steals (279), steals in a season (84), and steals per game in a season (3.0). She also recorded 101 career blocks and 1,449 career points for a 13.1 average.
Drenth played for the Panthers women's basketball team from 1979-1983. She started in all 111 games in which she played. Other school records she held include 16 free throws made and 19 attempted in a game. While competing she was tied for second on UNI's all-time chart for field goals attempted in a game (24).
In 1981-1982, the squad advanced to the AIAW Region 6 Tournament in Fargo, N.D. She was a key player for the Panthers with career stats of 559-of-1184 field goals made and 331-of-449 free throws. She also had 758 rebounds (6.8 avg.) and dished out 292 assists. The Panthers recorded a 57-29 record during her playing career.
Drenth graduated from Decorah (Iowa) High School. She earned her bachelor's in accounting from UNI in 1983 and went on to earn her master's in business administration from the University of Phoenix. She became a certified public accountant, starting her career as an accountant at Rolscreen Company in Pella, Iowa. She took that experience to Colorado where she worked for various accounting firms as a CPA.
