CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team will host their intrasquad meet on Sept. 29 at 10 am.
This event is free to the public and will take place at the Glen F. Henry Pool on the UNI campus.
The Panthers return eight All-MVC athletes from a year ago, including First-Team All-Conference nominees in Katie Taylor, Kylie Engstrom, and Crystal Florman.
Taylor is the returning MVC champion in the 200 IM and 400 IM events, earning an NCAA B cut in the 400 IM. Taylor's time reset the MVC and UNI records in the 400 IM, timing in at 4:16.87.
Florman and Taylor earned honorable mentions for the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team.
Block Dedication
Prior to the meet starting, the team will dedicate the new starting blocks that were purchased this summer. The UNI Swimming and Diving team welcome back alumni to the Glen F. Henry Pool for the dedication.
"We are incredibly blessed to have so much support from our fans, alumni and community," said senior captain Madison Rinaldi. "Because of their efforts, we are now able to train and compete at the elite Division 1 level. We can't wait to use them at our first home meet in October!"
"What an amazing effort by all our student-athletes, the athletic department and foundation," said head coach Nick Lakin. "All our alumni and families helped to get this project done. We are excited to continue to improve the Glen F. Henry Pool and make an elite facility available to the Cedar Valley. They give the Glen F. Henry Pool top of the line blocks and we can't wait to start using them for training and competition."
Preseason Poll
As announced by the Missouri Valley Conference, the Panthers were picked to finish third in the conference for the upcoming season. The Missouri State Bears were picked to finished first in the conference, followed by Southern Illinois Saluki's in second.
