UNI Volleyball Sweeps Indiana State

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI Volleyball (RV) handled business Monday evening at the McLeod Center in the Missouri Valley home opener. The Panthers swept Indiana State 25-17, 25-21, 25-18 to move to 2-0 in MVC play and 8-6 overall.
The Panthers trailed in every set but eventually made comebacks behind solid hitting and strong defense.
As a team, UNI hit .261 through three sets while holding the Sycamores to .114 for the match, including .071 in the first set and .000 in the third.
Karlie Taylor, Piper Thomas and Kate Busswitz all tallied double-digit kills, led by Taylor with 16. Thomas hit a match-high .400 with only three errors. She also added a solo block to inch closer to the All-time career mark of 90. She only needs two more solo blocks to tie the mark held by Denise Cuttell.
Rachel Koop notched 38 assists and added five digs on the day. She also tallied just the second solo block of her career.
Defensively, the Panthers had 41 digs and held the Sycamores to just 25 kills overall.
The match also the first contest held on the new court at the McLeod Center which was installed just a few weeks ago.

The Panthers next hit the road for a pair of games beginning Friday with a match against Loyola before traveling to Valparaiso to close out the weekend Saturday.
