UNI Women's Cross Country Knocks Off MVC Favorites

PEORIA, Illinois – The UNI women's cross country team knocked off the Missouri Valley Conference favorites on their own course at the Bradley Intercollegiate today.
The women edged out Bradley, 32-29, while Western Illinois was a distance third in the team race. Â
The women ran a three-mile course. McKayla Cole (17 minutes, 5.5 seconds) led the Panthers with a second-place finish, and teammates Gabby Champion and Gabby Skopec packed up close behind in third and fourth place.
Alyssa Williams and Paige Holub rounded out UNI's top-five finishers, finishing sixth and 13th, respectively. Lyndsie Schinkel took the final spot in the top 15. Â
The UNI women's team is ranked 14th in the Midwest Region. Bradley slipped to No. 6 in the regional rankings after having a top-five rank in preseason.
On the men's side in the 8K race, three Panthers grabbed spots in the top 15. Wal Khat led the Panthers, finishing seventh in 25:21.30. Alex Jackson and Sam McCool took 11th and 12th, respectively.
On the men's side, Bradley is ranked fifth in the Midwest Region.
