Panthers Jump into the AVCA Top 25

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The UNI Panther volleyball team jumped into the AVCA NCAA DI Top-25, debuting at the No. 17 spot after a strong showing at the USC Trojan Invite last weekend in Los Angeles.
The Panthers upset then No. 13 Creighton in impressive fashion and came from behind to defeat No. 5 Kentucky. Both programs fell in the standings this weekend. Kentucky fell to No. 16 and Creighton dropped to No. 15.
UNI's only loss came at the hands of USC who jumped from No. 10 to No. 7.
The Panthers also debuted in the VolleyMob Top 25 Power Rankings. UNI came in at No. 14, just ahead of Creighton (15th) and Kentucky (16th). VolleyMob also noted UNI's opening week in their comparisons of the preseason polls.
The Panthers play host to two teams that received votes in three matches this week. The Panthers host Iowa State Wednesday before playing Washington State on Friday and Saturday.
Wednesday's match will be a Purple Out and the first 100 students through the door will receive a BEAT STATE T-shirt.
