UNI Football: Neal Cracks 2nd National Preseason Team

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Rickey Neal Jr. earned his second spot on a preseason national team with today's announcement of the 2018 Phil Steele FCS All-America Teams.

The senior linebacker was named to the second team. Neal also earned national preseason honors with a spot on the 2018 STATS FCS Preseason All-America team on the third team and was named to the first team on the MVFC's Preseason All-Conference Team.

Neal made 10 starts for UNI last year as a defensive end. He led the Missouri Valley Football Conference in sacks with 9.5 for the year. He recorded 51 tackles, with 15 for a loss. He forced and recovered two fumbled. He was named to the All-MVFC Second Team last year.

The Racine, Wisconsin, native is majoring in communications.

THE PANTHERS

UNI football will open its season on the road, taking on Montana Sept. 1. The Panthers head to Iowa Sept. 15 before UNI's home opener set for 4 p.m. Sept. 22.
