UNI Soccer Hires Josh Alford as an Assistant

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI soccer and Bruce Erickson have hired Josh Alford to assist the Panthers starting this upcoming season.
"I am excited to work with Josh and we welcome him and his family to the Panther soccer program and the UNI community," said Erickson. "Josh is someone I was familiar with and he is a grinder, someone who will work diligently to help UNI soccer be successful. He has vast experience in all phases of coaching and will prove to be a great asset to our program."
Alford joins UNI after coaching at the University of South Carolina Aiken. He has served as an assistant for Illinois Futbol Club in Urbana, Illinois, and the head coach at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois.
A two-time MWAC Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015, he also earned Region 24 Coach of the Year honors in 2011.
Alford is a graduate of Eastern Illinois. He and his wife, Ricki, have a daughter, NicoElla (7) and two sons, Hawke (5) and Caspian (9 months).
The Panthers open exhibition play on the road against University Nebraska-Omaha in Ankeny, Iowa, Aug. 6. UNI will host its season opener against Viterbo 6 p.m. Aug. 16

The Panthers are coming off an historic season, reaching the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship for the first time in school history. UNI set school records in 2017 in victories (14), goals (34), assists (29), shots (309) and shutouts (11). UNI finished the 2017 season with a mark of 14-5-1, including a record of 4-3-0 in MVC play – the most conference victories for the Panthers since also securing four wins in 2003.The Panthers open exhibition play on the road against University Nebraska-Omaha in Ankeny, Iowa, Aug. 6.
