CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field will have Panthers competing in multiple national events in the next two weeks.
Jessie Heims is headed to the Desert Challenge Games after setting the American record in the women's paralympic discus twice this year. Heims, a freshman, is expected to compete in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes in addition to the discus throw. The entire event gets underway Friday.
Also on Friday, freshman JoJo Frost will compete in the 400-meter hurdles at 4:40 p.m. CT. Finals for that event will be at 5:10 p.m. CT Saturday. Frost is from Center Point, Iowa.
Freshman Erica Loussaert will start heptathlon competition at noon CT Saturday with the 100-meter hurdles. The final heptathlon event is scheduled for Sunday. Loussaert is an Eldridge, Iowa, native.

Smith is coming off a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA Division I 2018 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Smith is looking to improve on his NCAA qualifying time of 50.13 seconds, which stands as the second fastest time in UNI history. Smith is a sophomore from Burlington, Iowa.
Coover and Wilson will be competing in the men's pole vault and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

JUNIOR OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
Three Panthers will compete in Bloomington, Indiana, at the USATF 2018 Junior Outdoor Championships. Freshman Isaiah Trousil will lead off competition for the trio in the 100-meter dash scheduled for 2:40 p.m. CT Friday. Finals for the 100-meter dash are later that night at 5:50 p.m. Trousil is from West Burlington, Iowa.Also on Friday, freshman JoJo Frost will compete in the 400-meter hurdles at 4:40 p.m. CT.
