UNI Track and Field Leads MVC in 8 Events

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – UNI track and field has 40 times and marks seeded in the top five of the Missouri Valley Conference heading into the outdoor championships set for this weekend.
The Panthers lead the conference in eight events:
The Panthers will be defending four titles earned last year.
Sharp was last year's high jump winner and enters the championship with the leading height of 5 feet, 8.5 inches. Teammate Chaley Rath has the second best jump in the MVC at 5 feet, 6.5 inches.
The men won the 4x400 last year and return three of the four runners with Corey Hertz, Jacob Smith and Evan Long. They enter with the fastest time again this year with 3 minutes, 8.35 seconds.
Holtz is the reigning champ in the discus and has the longest throw of the year in the conference with 185 feet. Teammate Tom Yezek is sitting in third with his longest throw.
Pate was second in discus and third hammer last year. She is expected to compete in both again this year. She enters with the best hammer throw of the year with 207 feet, 2 inches. Teammate Alanna Nietert is sitting in fifth.
Koerperich, the javelin leader, has the fifth best mark in discus. Anna Bently is fourth in the javelin.
Correy is the 800-meter run leader with her time of 2:06.65 and has the fourth fastest 1,500-meter time in the MVC. Panther Lyndsie Schinkel has the fourth fastest time in the conference in the 800-meter run.
Brooke Lorenz had the highest finish of the collegiate competitors at the Drake Relays and enters the MVC championships with the third best score. Erica Loussaert is fourth.
Indoor pole vault champion Lauren Beauchamp and 400-meter runner Maddie Bell are in fourth among MVC competitors.
The women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays posted the fifth fastest times so far this season.
Smith and JoJo Frost hold the top two spots in the 400 hurdles, respectively. Smith was second at last year's outdoor championships.
In the 400-meter dash, Hertz and Long have the fourth and fifth best times this season among MVC competitors. Hertz took third last year.
The men have four throwers in the MVC's top-6 spots. Keegan Tritle's throw of 60 feet, 10.5 inches, is the second best throw. William Blaser is fourth while Kyler Yodts and Darius King are tied for the fifth best throw. King has the second best javelin throw.
Austin Heitland has the second best score in the decathlon.
In addition to having the top mark in the discus, Holtz has the third best hammer throw.
Two Panthers cracked the top five in 110 hurdles with Connor Ham in third and Cole Phillips in fourth.
UNI's 4x100 relay's time of 40:82 is third among the MVC relay teams. Ben Ahlrichs and Cameron Cantrall are fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and high jump, respectively.
In addition to leading the MVC in the 200, Trousil has the fifth best 100-meter time. Also holding on to the fifth best spot in the MVC is Jordan Pingel in the 800, Chase Van Sant in the long jump and Martavian Borseth in the triple jump.
