Correy Named MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Brette Correy of UNI and Kevin White of Loyola have been selected Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Week, presented by Enterprise Bank and Trust Company, Commissioner Doug Elgin announced today. The two athletes were honored for their performances during the period of April 30-May 6.
To qualify for Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing.
Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes are evaluated on their athletic performance during the one-week period.
Brette Correy, UNI, Sr., Track & Field, Early Childhood Education, 3.89 GPA
UNI's Brette Correy (Epworth, Iowa/Western Dubuque HS) won the 800-meter run at the Wisconsin Twilight. Correy covered the 800 meters in 2:06.65 – the best time this spring in the Missouri Valley Conference. Correy's time also ranks as the 25th-best time in the NCAA West Region.
Kevin White, Loyola, Jr., Track & Field, Conservation & Restoration Ecology, 3.86 GPA
White continued his excellent outdoor campaign and cruised to a first-place showing in the 800-meter run at the Wisconsin Alumni Classic last weekend. The junior posted a time of 1:47.87, which ranks second in Loyola history, tops in the Missouri Valley Conference this season, and 11th in the region. Off the track, he is a MVC Scholar-Athlete, MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award recipient and USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honoree. Last season he also collected CoSIDA Academic All-District recognition.
