University of Northern Iowa junior distance runner Alex Jackson has been named to the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Google Cloud Academic All-District® first team.
Jackson (Fort Dodge, Iowa/Fort Dodge HS) has posted a perfect 4.00 cumulative grade point average while majoring in biology. Jackson placed eighth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference outdoor track and field championships. His eighth-place finish helped the UNI men's program to the Panthers's first MVC team title since 2009. In the outdoor season, Jackson posted the 10th-best time in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a clocking of 9:19.49.
The CoSIDA all-district teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America® honorees to be announced in June.
The Google Cloud Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed here for men's track & field/cross country and women's track & field/cross country, and are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and College Division. The College Division includes all NAIA, Canadian, two-year schools and other affiliations.
