Day One of Gibson Invite Yields Two Wins for UNI

RESULTS
TERRE HAUTE, Indiana – The University of Northern Iowa track and field program turned in a successful first day at the Gibson Invitational, as the Panthers won two events to close out Friday in Terre Haute.
UNI's Anna Bentley and McKayla Cole each placed first in their respective events, with Bentley winning the javelin throw (130-05) and Cole taking the 5000-meter (17:23.96). Sarah Pate finished runner-up in the hammer throw (190-03) and Brooke Lorenz placed third in the javelin throw (103-00) to round out the top-5 finishers for the women.
On the men's side, Isaac Holtz and Cade Kirkpatrick took top-3 finishes, with Holtz placing runner-up in the hammer throw (167-02) and Kirkpatrick placing third in the javelin throw (144-00).
Friday was a short day at the outdoor event, with just three events each on the men's and women's side. The Panthers will close out the Gibson Invitational on Saturday, with action beginning at 11 a.m. CT and lasting until late that afternoon.

UP NEXT
A select group of Panthers will head to Iowa City, Iowa on April 14 for the Musco Twilight, closing out the opening weekend of the outdoor season for UNI.
