Proudfoot Advances UNI to Semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.—The University of Northern Iowa women's tennis team has advanced to the MVC semifinals tomorrow after defeating Illinois State 4-3.

The Redbirds won the doubles point to go up 1-0 to start the match.

Reghan Lynch got the Panthers on the board first, earning a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 2 singles spot. Claudia Toledo defeated Jana Kustkova 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 singles spot, while Gisela Kemper defeated the MVC Player of the Year, Veronika Golanova 6-4, 6-4 in the No. 1 singles spot.

Harri Proudfoot came from behind in the No. 4 singles spot, defeating Ivon Mihaleva 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

Prior to today's match, the last MVC tournament win for the Panthers came in the 2014-15 season against Bradley.

The Panthers will face Stony Brook tomorrow at 1 p.m.
