University of Northern Iowa head volleyball coach Bobbi Petersen has inked another signee for the 2018 recruiting class.
Petersen announced the signing of Inga Rotto (Ames, Iowa/Gilbert HS) to compete for the Panthers beginning this fall. Rotto is a 6'1" outside/middle hitter.
"We are so excited to add Inga and her family to our Panther family," Petersen said. " Inga epitomizes what we value in our program with her work ethic, her hunger to compete and her commitment to academics. On the court Inga will bring a physical presence to the net as well as speed and quickness both in transition and laterally with blocking. She will also add versatility to our middle and pin hitter positions with her potential to attack different tempos and areas along the net. We are thrilled that she is a Panther."
Rotto was named the Ames Tribune all-area volleyball player of the year in 2017. She competed in the IGCA all-star game in 2017. Rotto earned second-team all-state honors in 2017 and second-team all-state accolades in 2016. She was a two-time first-team all-conference performer for the Tigers and head coach Stacy Johnson. She helped the Tigers to a conference title and the program's winningest season (31-12) as a senior. She averaged 4.06 kills, while hitting .472. She averaged 1.06 blocks per set. She is an honor roll student and earned academic all-state honors in 2017.
Rotto has played club volleyball for Central Iowa Select and Club Iowa Juniors.
She is the daughter of Haris and Mary Rotto. She is undecided on her major at UNI.
In the fall signing period, Petersen has added Katherine Barr (6'2", Middle Blocker – Antoich, Illinois/Antioch HS), Carly Spies (6'3", Middle Hitter – Marion, Iowa/Linn-Mar HS), Tayah Mahi (5'9", Setter – Cedar Falls, Iowa/Cedar Falls HS) and Baylee Petersen (5'8", Outside Hitter – Dike, Iowa/Dike-New Hartford HS) to the Panther roster.
