Maahs, Howell Collect All-MVC Selections

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Sophomore Megan Maahs and junior Ellie Howell were each awarded with All-Missouri Valley Conference selections on Wednesday, continuing a decorated season for the University of Northern Iowa women's basketball team.

Maahs earned All-MVC First Team and MVC All-Defensive Team honors, while Howell collected All-MVC Honorable Mention laurels.

Maahs, who earned All-Freshman Team honors last season, has averaged 10.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per contest this season. Maahs has posted a league-leading 12 double-doubles, which is one behind Alex Cook's mark of 13 in 2003-04. Maahs has also climbed up the all-time leaderboard for rebound at UNI, ranking third in both total rebounds (294) and defensive rebounds (208) in a single season.

Howell, who won the MVC's Sixth Player of the Year and All-MVC First Team honors last season, has averaged 10.0 points this season for the Panthers. Howell has posted 17 games in double-figures, with 13 of those coming in MVC action. Howell is leading the team with 10.9 points per contest in league action. Prior to the 2017-18 season, Howell was named to the Preseason All-MVC First Team.

The conference will announce player of the year honors on Thursday.
