Panthers Capture Series Win Over Bears

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – With a 2-1 win over the Missouri State Bears, the Panthers were able to capture their first MVC series win of the season.
Northern Iowa Panthers vs. Missouri State Bears | Final Score – W, 2-1
Jaclyn Spencer took the ball for the Panthers Saturday, and did not disappoint, as the lefty went seven strong innings while striking out three and holding the Bears to one run. Spencer did not walk a batter, and allowed only four hits in the game. The win was Spencer's seventh of the season for UNI.
The Panther offense, while limited in the game, was able to score two runs against Missouri State, which proved to be just enough to collect the win.
Both of the UNI runs in the game came in the first inning. Ashley Chesser doubled to right field, which brought home Kennedy Bailey for the first run of the game. A Brittney Krodinger single into left center scored Chesser.
With the win over Missouri State on Saturday, UNI is now 3-4 in the conference, and is currently on a two-game winning streak in the MVC.
UP NEXT –
The Panthers travel to Iowa City to face off against the Hawkeyes on Wednesday, April 4. After that, UNI will head east towards Valparaiso, Indiana for a three-game intraconference series April 7-8.
