Panthers Can't Claw Back Against Badgers
3/27/2018 6:10:00 PM | Softball
Cedar Falls, Iowa – UNI's struggles continued Tuesday, as the Panthers dropped their non-conference game, 6-2, to the Wisconsin Badgers.
Northern Iowa vs. University of Wisconsin | Final Score – L, 6-2
Starter Brooke Craig went four innings in the game, as the Panthers continue to play without starter Jaclyn Spencer taking the mound. Craig allowed five hits and walked two batters, while striking out a couple of Badgers. The junior righty allowed four runs in her four innings of work on Tuesday.
Courtney Krodinger came on in relief, and only lasted a third of an inning on the mound. C. Krodinger gave up two hits and allowed two runs to cross the plate. Emma Olejniczak pitched an inning and two-thirds, allowing no hits or runs while striking out a batter.
The Panthers were able to get runners on base, but the recurring theme for the UNI offense has been the inability to score runs. UNI left 13 runners on base against the Badgers, which is the second straight game in which the Panthers left double-digit runners on base.
Four Panthers enjoyed multi-hit games on the day, as Spencer, Ashley Chesser, Brittney Krodinger and Kennedy Bailey all finished with two hits. Bailey reached base in all four of her plate appearances, with two walks to pair with her two hits.
UNI finished with no errors in the game. It was the second time in the last six games that the Panthers played a clean defensive game.
UP NEXT –
The Panthers will travel to Springfield, Missouri to play the Missouri State Bears. UNI was originally slated to play the three-game series against the Bears at home, but due to inclement weather, the series was moved to Springfield.
