Panthers Can't Complete Comeback Against Roos

Cedar Falls, Iowa – The Panthers came close to completing a comeback win Saturday night, falling in nine innings after tying the game up in the bottom of the seventh inning, against the UMKC Roos.
Northern Iowa vs. Wisconsin-Green Bay | Final Score – W, 1-0
Brooke Craig pitched her fifth complete game, and second shutout, of the season in a 1-0 win over the Phoenix on Friday. Craig now leads the Panthers in wins (7) on the season, with one more than Jaclyn Spencer. Craig allowed three hits and two walks while striking out two batters.
The sole UNI run on the day was a result of an error by the Phoenix' shortstop.
Six different Panthers batters recorded a hit in the win, while seven runners were left on base for UNI. The win was UNI's fourth one-run victory this season.
Northern Iowa vs. University of Missouri-Kansas City | Final Score – L, 5-3 (9 inn.)
Jaclyn Spencer pitched deep into the game Saturday evening, going seven and two-thirds innings while allowing three runs (two earned) on 13 hits. The sophomore also struck out four batters, and got the no-decision in the game. Emma Olejniczak came on in relief for Spencer, pitching one and one-thirds innings while allowing two runs and striking out three. Olejniczak received the loss in the game, her second on the season.
UNI scored in the second inning, on an Abby Downs bunt, which scored Courtney Krodinger. Claire Dudek also drove in a run on an error by the other team's third baseman, bringing home C. Krodinger. The Panthers trailed heading into the bottom of the seventh, when B. Krodinger tied the game up on a two-out solo homerun to left field.
UNI was unable to find any offense in extra innings, losing 5-3 in the ninth inning. The Krodingers amounted for five of the eight UNI hits in the game. Brittney Roby extended her hitting streak to 11 games in the loss to the Roos.

The Panthers will kick off conference play in Peoria, Illinois, as UNI goes up against the Bradley Braves.
