UNI Seeks Second Straight Doubleheader Sweep

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Panthers are slated for a rematch against the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks on Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. in the UNI-Dome. UNI will also take on South Dakota State later in the evening, at 5:00 p.m., with an opportunity to sweep a doubleheader in consecutive days.

UNI will enter Saturday with a 2-0 record after shutting down the Redhawks and Green Bay Phoenix in the Panthers' season-opening doubleheader. Both UNI pitchers went the distance in their starts, with a combined two earned runs in 14 innings.

The Redhawks will be seeking revenge against the Panthers, after experiencing an offensive implosion at the hands of UNI Pitcher Jaclyn Spencer, on opening day. Southeast Missouri State captured a 4-1 win over the SDSU Jackrabbits in the second game of the UNI-Dome Classic, before falling to the Panthers in a 7-0 shutout loss.

South Dakota State played in the opening game for the UNI-Dome Classic, winning 5-3 against the Roos of Missouri-Kansas City. The Panthers will look to build on their historical domination of the Jackrabbits, where UNI owns a 12-2 all-time series lead.

The Panthers will play their fifth and final game of the UNI-Dome Classic on Sunday, Feb. 11^th. UNI will go to battle with UMKC at 4:15 p.m., to close out the tournament.

Three things to know about the game:

Both UNI pitchers, Spencer and Brooke Craig, went the distance in their starts on Friday. Craig recorded her first career complete game, while Spencer achieved her 10^th career complete game (fifth career shutout).
Left fielder Brittney Roby comes in after recording a career-high three RBI in a 5-2 win over the Phoenix. It was Roby's second career multi-RBI game.
The Panther's starting shortstop, sophomore Sammey Bunch, is looking to continue her domination at the plate on Saturday. Bunch notched 3 hits in the win over Green Bay for her 12^th career multi-hit game.
