CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – For the second-consecutive week, the University of Northern Iowa track and field program claimed a Missouri Valley Conference weekly honor, as senior Brette Correy was named the league's Female Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Fellow senior Lauren Frederick earned the MVC Female Field Athlete of the Week award last week, after her win in the pentathlon.
For Correy, the honor comes on the heels of placing fourth overall at the Meyo Invitational in the 800-meter run last weekend, with the senior posting a time of 2:07.26 for the event. The time ranks 35th overall in the nation and first in the MVC this season.
The Epworth, Iowa native, has competed in two events this season, running in the 800-meter and the mile for the Panthers. Correy's highest finish came in the mile at the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invite on Jan. 20, placing second overall.
