Northern Iowa vs. Quinnipiac University | Final Score – W, 2-1
Brooke Craig got the start for the Panthers in the first game of the Citrus Blossom Invitational, Friday, and did not disappoint. The win was Craig's second on the season.
The Panthers' first run on the game came in the second inning, on an RBI fielder's choice off the bat of Claire Dudek. Ashley Chesser scored on the play after a delayed throw by the Bobcats shortstop.
Quinnipiac did not take long to answer, scoring a run in the top of the third inning on an RBI single up the middle by Miranda Magana.
Both teams would be held scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning. Courtney Krodinger led off the inning with a 12 pitch at bat which resulted in a walk, and Brittney Krodinger advanced Courtney to third base with a bunt single and throwing error. Brittney Roby would single up the middle for the game-winning RBI, and the first UNI walk-off of the season.
Northern Iowa vs. Central Florida | Final Score – W, 11-0 (5 inn.)
The UNI offense exploded in game two of the Citrus Blossom Invitational, scoring eleven runs to mercy-rule the UCF Knights.
Jaclyn Spencer continued her early season dominance, racking up seven strikeouts over five innings, as well as hitting a two-run home run. Spencer has won all three of her starts to begin the year while also pitching a complete game in each start.
