CEDAR FALLS, Iowa– UNI swimming and diving opened the 2018 season with a win and Missouri Valley Conference Swimmer of the Week honors.
Senior Crystal Florman earned the MVC honor with three first-place finishes and a pair of relay wins when competing against Nebraska and Nebraska-Omaha this last weekend.

Against Nebraska, Florman led all swimmers in the 50 freestyle with a time of 23.66 seconds, and in the 100 free (52.12). Both of those marks lead the MVC this season. In the meet against Omaha, Florman took the top spot in the 100 free (52.48) and finished second in the 200 free (1:55.33).
Florman is the daughter of Tony and Patti Florman from Mason City, Iowa. She is majoring in communication disorders.
Diver of the Week
Elle Christie, Freshman, Indiana State (Ballwin, MO)
In the first collegiate meet of her career, Christie broke the Indiana State school-records in both the one and three-meter springboard against Illinois-Chicago on Friday. Christie recorded a score of 254.03 in the one-meter and a score of 267.98 in the three-meter en route to a second place finish in both events. She currently owns the third overall score in the Missouri Valley Conference in the three-meter and is fourth in the one-meter.
