Phillips and Fain Advance at MVC Tennis Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Miss.—Daisy Phillips and Olivia Fain will each place for a Top-3 finish tomorrow at the MVC Tennis Individual Championships.
Phillips defeated Megan Webb of Drake 6-1, 6-2 to advanced to the championship match in the Flight 6 singles.
In Flight 7 singles, Fain was defeated by Jordan Kopfer of Valparaiso in three sets 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Fain will play Brooke Smith to determine the third-place finalist.
Kate Merrick and Fain were defeated by Neville/Webb of Drake, 6-3. Merrick/Fain will play for the third-place spot in the Flight 3 doubles tomorrow.
Harri Proudfoot and Vale Caro received a bye in today's doubles competition. They will play for the fifth-place spot in the Flight 2 doubles tomorrow.
Caro defeated Randi Wind (Valparaiso) in the Flight 5 singles to finish in fifth-place. Merrick was defeated by Malini Wijesinghe (Bradley) 4-6, 6-0 (10-1), finishing in sixth place in the Flight 4 singles. In the Flight 2 singles, Claudia Toledo finished in sixth place, falling to Claire Czerwonka (Valparaiso) 6-4, 7-5.
Doubles matches will begin at 9 am tomorrow, followed by singles competition.
