Nebraska Defeats UNI Swimming and Diving, 166-77

OMAHA, Neb.—The University of Northern Iowa women's swimming and diving team was defeated this afternoon by Nebraska, 166-77.
Katie Taylor was four second ahead of the competition in the 200 IM, timing in at two minutes, three seconds and 84 hundredths of a second. Taylor was six seconds ahead of the competition in the 200 backstroke, timing in a 2:00.26.
Crystal Florman led all swimmers in the 50 freestyle, timing in at 23.66 for first place. Florman would again lead all swimmers in the 100 freestyle, timing in a full second ahead of Nebraska's Lindsay Helferich. Florman swam a 52.12 in the event.
Moriah Ross narrowly missed first place in the 200 breaststroke, swimming a 2:18.58.
Taylor, Ross, Lauren Havertape, and Florman took second place in the 200 medley relay, swimming a 1:45.21 in the event. The winning time by Nebraska was 1:45.01 in the event. In the 200 freestyle, Havertape, Abby Meyer, Kacmarynski, and Natalie Nelson swam into 1:40.42, taking second in the event.
Kylie Engstrom swam a 10:39.99 in the 1000 freestyle, good for third place in the event.
Jordan McCullough swam into third place in the 200 freestyle, timing in at 1:58.12.
Havertape and Kacmarynski were fourth and fifth in the 50 freestyle, with times of 25.03 and 25.07 respectively.
McCullough and Engstrom led the Panthers in the 500 freestyle, swimming a 5:16.52 and a 5:17.28 respectively.
Madison Rinaldi swam into fifth place in the 200 IM, timing in at 2:15.61.
Rachelle Houlette and Kelsey Ostrowski led the Panthers in the 200 butterfly, with swim times of 2:15.30 and 2:18.92 respectively.
Diving
On the 1-meter boards, Jayden Lovell dove into fourth place, with a score of 204.08. Madison Schoppe dove a 181.95 for fifth place on the 1-meter boards. In the 3-meter boards, Lovell dove a 224.55 and Schoppe dove a 177.75 for the Panthers.
Next Time in the Pool
The Panthers will host their home opener on Oct. 13 as South Dakota State, Valparaiso, and Western Illinois come to the Glen F. Henry Pool. Meet time is scheduled for 2 p.m.
