UNI Volleyball Sweeps Illinois State

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The Panther volleyball team moved to 5-0 in Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) play Friday night, sweeping Illinois State 25-19, 26-24, 25-12.
Karlie Taylor led the way for the panthers, recording a team high 18 kills. Kate Busswitz finished the night with a .526 attack percentage and 11 kills, marking the fifth time she has hit double digit kills this season. Jaydlin Seehase had an efficient night offensively, recording 8 kills and 1 error on 17 total attacks for a .412 attack percentage.
Rachel Koop added 36 assists to her resume, and averaging 11.53 per set which leads the MVC. Piper Thomas led the team in blocks, recording 5 in her first match after being named MVC Athlete of the Week.
Defensively, Kendyl Sorge was able to record 20 digs, Karlie Taylor added 11 and Baylee Petersen and Taylor Hedges each recorded 7.
UNI moves to 11-6 overall and 5-0 in MVC play take sole possession of first place being the only undefeated team in the conference.

The Panthers don't get long to rest, the Braves of Bradley University come to the McLeod Center on Saturday, Oct. 6. Bradley is 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the MVC after losing to Drake 1-3 Friday night. Fans can get into the 7 p.m. volleyball match for free with a purchase of a UNI football ticket.
Monday the Panthers take on the Purple Aces of Evansville. The Purple Aces are currently 7-12 overall and picked up their first MVC victory Friday night, defeating Southern Illinois 3-0.
